Hello, my name is Mrs Hobson and I am the schools Finance Administrator.
It’s my job to deal with anything financial to do with the school so I monitor the budget, pay the invoices, raise the orders and handle the cash. I also make sure the computer is up to date with all the pupil records and contact information so that if the children are ill we can get in touch with someone to come and collect them from school.
When I first left school in 1979 I worked for Barclays Bank and after having my children I worked at Humbrol/Airfix as the customer services administrator. Yes, it was my job to send out the missing parts from the Airfix kits! (I had my own fan base of regular anoraks.) Following this I became a learning mentor at Archbishop Thurstan School. This proved to be both challenging and very rewarding. However, keen to get back into finance and administration, I was delighted when I got this job in April 2005.
When I first came here I realised very quickly how welcoming and friendly the children and staff are. I love working at Alderman Cogan’s and I like the variety of my job, I never know what each day will bring. When Mr Dykes, the Caretaker, is off site the children always seem to come to me to unblock the toilets!
