Hi, my name is Catherine Drake and I am the Every Child Counts (ECC) Leader working with children on a 1:1 basis to help them to enjoy mathematics and be confident to ‘have a go’.

I have been teaching at Alderman Cogan’s since 1995 – where have those years gone to? For most of those years I taught in the Foundation Stage, but in recent years I have chosen to work part-time, firstly as part of a job-share in Key Stage 2 and now as the ECC Leader.

The reason I decided to work part-time was because I wanted to study and train for the Reader Ministry within The Church of England. This is a part-time, public role in Christian ministry which involves learning new practical skills as well as studying for a Theology degree.  As you can imagine this involves a lot of work, but I’m so far managing to juggle my school life, ministry and family life!
